Mardi Gras Season Begins at Belle Maison

It is officially Mardi Gras season in Louisiana! The Carnival season begins on Epiphany, the 12th day after Christmas. Religiously, Epiphany commemorates the day the Magi visited the Christ child. Many towns across the Bayou State celebrate with a traditional Twelfth Night celebration, officially kicking off this festive season that is unique to Louisiana.
Once the Carnival season begins, King Cakes fill grocery stores and bakeries throughout the state. Mardi Gras balls get underway, and homes and businesses are decorated with Mardi Gras trees, lights, and vibrant displays. Retailers—from Walmart to local boutiques—feature apparel in the traditional colors of purple, green, and gold, often decorated with mask appliques or fleur-de-lis adornments.
At Central Management, celebrating Mardi Gras is of utmost importance. Many of our homes feature Mardi Gras trees, and residents enjoy King Cake throughout the season. Many Krewes visit our facilities and pass out beads to residents and staff. In true Carnival tradition, many of our facilities also select a King and Queen to reign over the festivities. Be sure to check your facility calendars for details on Mardi Gras celebrations at each location. We would love for you to join us—and as we say in Louisiana, Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!
